Shin-Etsu Silicones of America,Inc.(“SESA”:A U.S.subsidiary of ShinEtsu
Chemical Co.Ltd.,Japan)recently announced the hiring of Robert
Jovingo as LIMS Process Engineer for their state-of-the-art LIMS™(Liquid
Injection Molding System)Technical Center in Akron,Ohio.
Jovingo will play a key role in the continued development of the LIMS Technical
Center which features an ARBURG,110 ton,All-Electric horizontal liquid injection molding press,as well as an 60 ton
hydraulic ENGEL press at its epicenter.Jovingo’s primary focus will be to support the design of new LIMS products,
provide full-scale process development and testing of LIMS materials,and assist new and existing customers with
training,molding trials,and process improvements.
With over 25 years of experience in liquid silicone molding,Jovingo has worked with some of the biggest LSR molders
in NE Ohio.He began his career at Quality Synthetic Rubber,Inc.(Twinsburg,OH)where he served as their Liquid
Injection Process Engineer/Manager,and installed their very first LSR press in 1992.From there,he became the HCR
Process Engineer and department supervisor at Forest City Technologies(Wellington,OH),and,most recently,he
worked at Robin Industries,Inc.(Berlin,OH)as their Research&Development Process Engineer.
Jovingo brings with him extensive hands-on experience both operating and maintaining liquid injection molding
presses.He is also very skilled in installation,as well as set-up and maintenance of the related ancillary equipment such
as dosing systems,tooling,and automation.Additionally,he has completed ENGEL Certified Maintenance and
extensive ed2go Advance Supervision and Management classes.He is highly regarded in the industry and well
networked in the US and Europe.
Core products at the forefront of Jovingo’s initial charge will include SESA’s Select-Hesive™and Optical LIMS
products.In addition to testing adhesion and expanding Shin-Etsu’s library of compatible thermoplastic substrates,he
will focus on optimizing the process parameters for SESA’s new Optical LIMS materials.Notably,he will lead an
integrated demonstration of the advanced handling and molding properties of SESA’s optically clear X-34-1972-3 in the
production of silicone Wayfarer-style eye glasses at LIGHTFAIR®International 2019(May 21-23/Philadelphia,PA).
